Divers(c)ity by Riken Yamamoto

The Circle boasts an individual and striking architectural identity. Externally, it echoes the shapes and design language of the airport, creating a harmonized theme. Internally, it is designed to give the impression of a small scale, high-class city center. Sustainable construction and operation is a matter of course for the Circle.  The complex is under way to be certified by the green building certification Programme LEED Platinum®. The park represents the recreational area for the entire region. The design by internationally renowned Japanese architect Riken Yamamoto organizes the space so that the venue opens up towards the park. Along its alleys and squares, a single main level makes orientation intuitive and easy, with uncomplicated access to all the services and the airport itself is easily reachable via various routes. The uncluttered architecture of the upper levels allows unhindered views upwards to the sky, while all public areas are designed to convey the impression of being outdoors. The main square and alleys are covered with a metal-glass structure for protection from the elements and the facades within the alleys are designed to create individualism for retail tenants and reinforce each brand’s identity.

Linking to Zurich, Switzerland and the world, discover the Circle, an exciting mix of business and lifestyle with a striking address and it’s own architectural identity.

Zurich’s new Destination

The Circle is a destination in itself at Zurich Airport. Just steps away from the terminal buildings, the new, architecturally striking complex buzzes with life and services. The flair of an international trading center at its core, the Circle is the focal point for business and lifestyle, unfolding in various modules; represented by brands, medicine, education, culture, entertainment, hotels and conventions. This unique synergy makes the Circle a new premium location with strong links to Zurich and the world.

The Circle lies at the heart of Zurich’s air transportation hub and boasts a clear identity of its own. Such an attractive new address tempts passengers, airport employees and visitors and boosts the airport’s role as an important center for the broader Zurich economic area. Offering the vigor of an international trading center and a big city beat, the Circle is a place to visit and linger. However it is quieter and more relaxed than a conventional shopping center, more cosmopolitan and atmospheric than your average airport, and more exclusive than a run-of-the-mill events center, attracting upmarket repeat visitors.
